Lemonade and Passion Fruits

A few weekends ago i was at my in laws, where i have my passion fruit plants.  it was looking rather sad since the last time i trimmed it, so i decided to trim out all the dead vines.   now since i did a similar thing  a year and a half ago, it was actually not too bad.  but once i got into trimming, i noticed a lot of dead vines.

here is what it looks like before i started. you can see its a big problem when you let them get too overgrown.  how you know when a passion fruit is ripe is that they fall off the vine.  well, when you have a bunch of leaves and old fruit on the ground, its hard to tell.

so while i was hacking away, on the left side of the plant in the photo above, i started seeing more and more dead vines.  eventually, i got enough cleared away that i could see what was happening.  the vine was actually rotted away!

no wonder everything looked so bad.  i guess it was getting too much water perhaps, or too many leaves caused it to never try out and rot set in.  anyways, i pulled out the old vine, and im intending to plant another soon.  passion fruits need 2 plants to set fruit.

so after a few hours of work this is where i got too.  looking much more tidy.  once all the dead vines and such are swept up, it will be super easy to see ripe fruit.

and finally literally enjoying the fruits of my labour.

these cute little succulents had bees all over them while i was working away.

Then theres another problem at the house currently.  the lemon tree has more lemons than can reasonably be used.  so i decided to try my hand at making lemon juice.  here are my starting ingredients.

It turned out really good.  now i just have to juice a bunch of lemons and freeze them for the summer!

and lastly the sun setting while i was enjoying my juice.
