Palo Alto and meeting Joie

Back into posting after a little break.  moving onwards from our great north american trip, we ended up in San Francisco for 5 days.  while there we got a chance to visit our friend Dan, in order to see him, his wife, and their new daughter Joie.

She is super cute, and instantly started smiling at us.  we met for some lunch, and then went for a walk around Stanford.

ive been a few times to standford, but i dont think ive ever been in the summer when there is no school, but instead a lot of tourists and weddings on campus.

the campus is wonderful as ever.  apparently they have been building like mad, and there are several brand new buildings.  complexes would be a better word for it.  we walked around some and had a look at a few of them.

im always struck by how well the outdoor space is organized.  there is a lot of outdoor seating, and thought put into it so that if people want to spend time outside, they are able to.  also, we took the caltrain from downtown out to palo alto, and i left in jeans as it was super cold downtown, and we got there, and as you can see in the pictures, its super sunny and warm.  it was so nice.  i still cannot figure out what the draw is to living in cold rain all year around.  and then after a few hours, we took the train back.

even though we did not spend a lot of time together this time, its always nice to catch up with old friends.
